Greetings, Bronco Nation, from the Office of Orange Jacket Guy; it is again a distinct honor to write to you. I now present this piece to you without external objection. My last piece touched a bit on what this is, but now I have been directed to not hold back.

If memory serves correctly, when I was writing about the Whole Package concept, to which most of us are aware, I gave a brief example hinting at WHY the University of Idaho is a school in decline. The case can be made that the U of I is an overall inferior school.

The Good, remember when Bronco Nation you had to struggle to get a Boise State Football game on your TV. Sure you could buy ESPN game plan and get most games, but not all, and certainly not with the best of video game coverage, with limited views and poor replays, and outside of Boise we never knew who those guys in the box calling the game.

I DON'T NORMALLY WATCH NFL -- BUT WHEN I DO, IT'S FOR BSU?

Greetings, Bronco Nation, from the Office of Orange Jacket Guy; it is again a distinct honor to write to you. Now that the NFL draft is over I have a few bits to put out there. Mostly it's just ranting.

The first bit of business is an extreme disappointment in the NFL draft process illustrated by just one point: How the hell did ANYONE from Nevada get picked up BEFORE Kellen Moore? If they had put in the work and had the (relative) skill, the last game we had with them would have gone vastly different. Although considering how they and their fans had acted the previous year, if I were them, I wouldn't have shown up either. Bringing it back, the NFL draft seems to be less on the quality of player and the ability to play but more on a good-ol'-boys system. While yes, this was the record year for the number of players from BSU being drafted, that says NOTHING on how it actually got done.

The next bit of business: I can't believe (well, maybe I can now) how vicious Vandal fans are getting now. Just in the last 2 weeks I've had more-than-normal experiences with Vandals (and just so we're clear, such things are rarely positive, as most of you already know). Listing all of them might bore you out of even the most extreme cases of insomnia, and will most likely ignite the ire of others on The Blue Turf. However a few stand out that need addressing. The first is an interaction between myself and a guy (who I will NOT name directly, out of remaining respect I have for him) who is running for local office. On Facebook, the popular medium for many people to interact and make themselves look stupid, this guy comes in and attempts to break-up the popular Facebook version of the Boise State chant with the word "IDAHO". The stated reason for this was "I simply wanted to make sure you knew where you were". It's not like I was in his face or anything. He continued for a while like this and got a little nastier each time (I deleted most of these posts). He then escalated matters by going into my photos and other items and started posting there. Now because I am a bit more witty than their usual "Boise is not a state" garbage, I handled him quite readily. I think he went to sleep or something because there wasn't much more after I stated that you really shouldn't put a football field in an airplane hangar. Whatevs.

Last week's draft had a certain quality of summing up for those of us who've been with the program for over 4 decades. There was much to reflect upon. For example, how unlikely it is that this unprepossessing little campus, with its equally modest stadium, 400 or so miles from anything the rest of the U.S. would recognize as remotely "urban", had managed to shoulder its way into the stratosphere of the elite college football programs whose bona fides were established decades before this little strip of earth our stadium sits on  was a mail drop off for the fledgling United Airlines. I wanted to give the readership a sense of what I've distilled in my 44 years of watching this team.

First the fact that Kellen Moore wasn’t drafted should be considered a criminal offense, so much so people should be marching in the streets with cries of no justice no peace, while demanding a special prosecutor to investigate the predigest against the 6’ south paw from Boise, but after all its Boise we are talking about and they are more interested in running to fight cancer then civil unrest, how so un progressive of them ;).

His phone hasn’t stop ringing. Once we got into the 6th round it was better that Kellen go undrafted and here is why. Kellen is now officially a free agent and trust me there are many teams out there that need QB’s that didn’t draft one, from the Detroit Lions to the Pittsburg Steelers all have a need for a Backup QB and failed to fill that need. Kellen will now be able to not only negotiate a deal of value and security he will be able to select amongst the teams that approach him that he feels will give him the best chance to succeed and advance.

In an effort to recover from a missed opportunity by the Lions (I normally would say beloved but I need time to rethink our relationship)  I think it’s important to take things into account by comparison.

With the 19th and 31st pick Shea Mc Clellin and Doug Martin become the first two Boise state players to go in the first round together, when you consider the schools you don’t see in the first round OSU, Oregon, Auburn Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan & Michigan State just to name a few schools we are accustom to see players going in the first round and here the class of 2011 puts two in there.

MSU QB in waiting Andrew Maxwell a Midland High Grad( I personal Hate Midland High) sprained his knee in practice Saturday.

junior Andrew Maxwell, was backing up to get away from the defense in a scrimmage Saturday and he fell backward, injuring his knee. Coach Mark Dantonio said Tuesday it was a sprain that doesn't require surgery, but Maxwell could be out the rest of spring drills.

The Lions suffer mighty last year from having zero run threat, add insult to injury their second pick two years ago in Best may never return due to concussions, their second pick last year in Mikel Leshoure blew out his achillies in summer camp last year, then this year within a month got busted for pot not once but twice.

Near dead last in the NFL in rushing as if that is the only stat a lack of a real RB should be measure, the Lions must fix their problem now if they intend to compete.

Lacking a real running threat let alone a RB that can pick up a blitz, catch the ball out of the back field. The Lions will be parental first round losers if they are lucky enough to get a wild card.

Three days to go and a record number of Boise State players are preparing to depart Boise in hopes of getting to the next level. With as many as two Bronco’s projected first round picks Doug Martin and Shea Mc Clellin a whole host of Bronco’s look to go from round 2 and on, with so many graduating this year and so many stars I will attempt to bring focus to who and where while keeping it real as it is way too easy for this Die Hard Detroit Lion fan to want to load Detroit’s draft board up with many Bronco’s considering the numerous needs. Too help me do this I will forgo any favoritism by playing the role of Detroit’s GM Martin Mayhew in evaluating Boise States crop of players in line with Detroit’s needs.
